Languages, Artwork, Exercise, and Updates

I haven't been to blogspot in a while. I've been so focused on the stuff going on lately around here. It looks like we won't be moving into the duplex that we were going to originally move to. But we're still going to move into an apartment. I just want to be comfortable and settled into a place so that I can clear my mind. That's my main focus right now in life, period. Focusing my mind and getting myself on track. That includes with finances, learning, and life. Speaking of these things; as far as my language studies [meus estudos de linguas/mis estudios de idiomas] I've still been working on learning Portuguese and Spanish. Why not the Japanese and French anymore you ask? Well for one; I AM still working on my Japanese, but compared to the other two, it's not as easy (mainly convenient) to learn as they are. And the French, well, I just wanted to get a start on it, but I didn't really plan on working on that one too much. My friend Tia told me I'm all in Romance land lol. Because I'm studying so many romanic languages, but that's fine with me. I'm making good progress, and just can't wait to be fluent, since I'm still choppy right now. I think in a few more months I will be more comprehensive and it's well worth the work. I'm figuring that since their so similar my progress with Port and Span. should move at about the same pace.

I'm also up kind of late, working on a drawing that I want to be finished with before the new year! I'm a little more than halfway done with it now but more details to add. I'll add a foto at the bottom. I’m trying something new, I wanted to do something a bit different than some of my others, but not stray too far from my comfort zone yet. I got some ideas the other day from model mayhem, wow there are some beautiful photos there! I also hope to start a new series with the theme I’m doing. I had to slap myself lately over my artwork. I noticed how I half-assed my way through my brother’s drawing. I’m not doing that shit anymore. But I’m not going to stress anymore, because I was about to give up on this one when I was having doubts about it. So I need to stop being so critical of myself. And also I’m just going to draw to enjoy myself! Desenhando é uma aventura! Which means that it’s not about what I’m drawing, or who or whatever. People tell me “draw someone famous”or whatever. And I think about it, and will want to do it because they said it. I’m most happy when something touches my spirit and inspires me to draw it. So I’m going to remember that and DO that. Because this is about me right now. I’ll do commissions when I do them.

But anyway, I’ve also still been writing poetry. The other day my wireless mouse stopped working so now I'm back to the one with the cord, which I stopped using because it wouldn't work properly, but oh well, until I get a new one/laptop. So that delayed with my works on some of my other projects, literary ones.

Tonight I did a good workout! It was more arduous than the past nights, and of course I'm proud of myself. I worked on stretches and strength. I want to become more flexible, and not be stiff, which sitting at the computer can do sometimes. Plan to do the same tomorrow. Anyway, that's about it for now I guess.

Language Studies I

I've been continuing my laguage studies hard to the core lately. I love how much passion I have to learn. One thing I'm having trouble with is, I often find my focus being split, because I want to learn four languages lol! I KNOW I KNOW! That sounds ridiculous! But I'm serious about all of them! And I truly believe that I can achieve fluency in them all. Well that something that I KNOW. But as far as my progress I am at a good level in all aspects...

ENGLISH - 100% (lol!)

SPANISH - 13%
PORTUGUESE - 16%
JAPANESE - 10%
FRENCH - 5%

That's how my mind feels right now. And those percentages are calculated pretty much by how much I know ABOUT the language+my level of slight fluency at this point (which is still very choppy of course after only 2 months), and also my understanding of how sentence structure/masc. and fem. forms of words, and word order, and how vowels and consonants sound (which for Japanese (Romaji) and Portuguese can be harder than one thinks). So I'm saying I'm calculating it by how much I know at this point, but of course how much I still don't know.

Once I get to the level in which I can form a sentence on my own from scratch (not something I heard on a language course, or from phrases, but my very own sentences), then I will feel more confident. AND on that note, that's why my Portuguese in particular is at 16% (in my mind), because today in the store I was forming a few little sentences of my own and I was shocked and happy about it. I mean of course I was doing it in my mind and in sotto tone, but I was thinking of sentences! Yaaay! It's the first of the languages that I've done that with.

In conclusion I also have to express something I've learned so far along this language learning journey. Even when we start growing into adults and stuff, we are sooooo still children. I realize this everytime I try to repeat or construct a sentence in another language. I have to talk like I did when I was learning English. I mean when we really think about it, when you say a sentence in another language at a low fluency, you are talking like a 2 or 3 year old. Little vocabulary, little understanding of how to say the words exactly, and you only know the most simple and common words and phrases. Of course then as your grow you learn more by hearing more. It's natural to our mind. But we are truly still children when it comes to learning about something from scratch. Like my mom and the computer lol! I had to share that it's been on my mind for a long time. My next entry I will talk about my exercise stuff :D
